Redirect

[edit]

Hi Uamaol,

I've restored the redirect that Ravenswing made, because none of the references here show that the topic is independently notable. You need to find multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject that discuss him in depth. At the moment, the sources all mention him in passing, except for the bio (since deleted) on the site of a related act. --Slashme (talk) 12:16, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Slashme: On that basis, most BLP's are not notable and should be redirected or deleted. in my opinion he meets notability on the basis of being a Welsh-language broadcaster and a guitarist of a notable band, as shown in various sources. Instead of effectivly deleting the article, why not implement WP:IMPROVE. I found my three sources in under five minutes. I'm sure if you spend 10 minutes you would find more. Again, if they are not up to standard, then your actions are applicable for most BLP's, including but not limited to most musicians and broadcasters, of which are tolerated on the basis of WP:IMPROVE. @Uamaol: First, "other bad articles exist" isn't a valid argument. Second, let's look at a few recent AfD decisions.
Some that ended in redirection:
  • The lead guitarist of Kajagoogo "A search of Google, JSTOR, ProQuest and UK newspaper only returned mentions in relation to the band." Redirect to Kajagoogoo.
  • Canadian Idol contestant, had quite a few refs, was still redirected to the show's page because of the quality of the refs.
  • Scandinavian metal band, had 5 refs, still redirected to lead singer's page, because she is more famous than her band.
  • One half of a duo. Article has 3 refs, not counting an Instagram post, decision is to redirect to the band.
And now a few that ended with "keep":
Finally, remember that this isn't a deletion, it's just a redirect. The article history remains for you to refer to, so you have all the time in the world to go and find suitable references and resurrect the article. --Slashme (talk) 19:20, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
