[edit]Page name is "Per", article head is "Pehr". Which is it? McKay 14:01, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- It was changed from Per zu Pehr here but I don't see a reason for that. So I switched it back to Per. --Wolli-j (talk) 12:39, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, both names are common and both names exist in Sweden. Unfortunately, the Swedish WP does not cite his full name, so we cannot say from there. Google is in favor of "per georg scheutz" (944) rather than "pehr georg scheutz" (219) so I'll leave it to that. --Wolli-j (talk) 12:46, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
- A list of all members of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences 1739-1915, published in 1915, uses Pehr Georg Scheutz. At that time most sources (including encyclopedias) would "swedify" older names, which meant simplifying and streamlining spelling, which means that it could never go from Per -> Pehr. Thus, he likely wrote Pehr himself, but was changed into Per by early 20th century sources. Tomas e (talk) 16:38, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
