Aren't the stop signs on Prospect in the little Peoria Heights strip supposed to be the tallest stop signs in the world? Just a fun piece of trivia that could be added (if there is a source)...
Peoria Heights by county
[edit]County/Township | Census | 2008 |
---|---|---|
Peoria Richwoods (cousub 63371) | 6533 | 6130 |
Tazewell Fondulac (cousub 26636) | 0 | 0 |
Woodford Spring Bay (cousub 71611) | 102 | 100 |
I offer this table because there has been some editing contention regarding whether Peoria Heights should be classified as being in Tazewell or Woodford County. The source is the Illinois CSV file linked from http://www.census.gov/popest/cities/SUB-EST2008-states.html and the columns are 2000 Census and 2008 Estimate. Peoria Heights has some very small amount of area in Tazewell County &mdash if I remember correctly, it may even be almost completely underwater. There is a small, populated part of Woodford County that is inside Peoria Heights limits, however. This map from the Census' American FactFinder shows the sliver that is in Woodford, but nothing in Tazewell. (Green is civil townships, not city names.) I don't know what to say in response to the claim that the Peoria Heights police don't know about Woodford County territory, except to check the tax records. As for Tazewell: as I said, I think the parcels might be underwater a good part of the time, and one wouldn't be expected to know about that. --Closeapple (talk) 17:58, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
