Notability
[edit]Piotrus, this phrase certainly exists and it seems to have received enough use and attention from RS (which you've done a good job of compiling) that a sentence or two about it could be warranted in a page like Gender neutrality in English. At first read-through, I'm not sure this is notable enough for a full, standalone article, though. Many of the sources seem to just briefly mention that they're using the phrase, rather than being sources about the phrase providing in-depth coverage of the concept such as would suggest it was a topic an encyclopedia should cover in its own article, in contrast to e.g. queer. It seems like it would make more sense to merge this into Gender neutrality in English (or a similar page). {User:Crossroads, if you AfD this as you suggested here, I'll move this comment to AfD.) -sche (talk) 07:48, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
- @-sche: You are right that there doesn't seem to be that much to expand this with, and if this is the case, discussing it in a section or such in a wider article about neutral terms in English or such makes sense. That said there may be sources I missed, and given that most are from the last ~2 years I am expecting this term could be gaining more notability over time (but yeah, WP:CRYSTALBALL and therefore I am not opposed to a merger, although it would be good to hear more people. My main concern was that this term should be a blue (green...) link, which is now addressed. PS. An AfD would be a quick way to judge consensus, but a regular merge template + 2-3 months of slow discussion should work too. I have no strong preference as to which action to take - I just wanted to stub this. I am a sociologist, but gender studies are not my forte. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:18, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
Redirect to menstruation?
[edit]I propose that the redirect should rather go to Menstruation#Terminology where we also explain this term (well, it was in there until today when User:Crossroads deleted it, but I am hoping that the previous discussion on the talk page there will be convincing enough - I thought we had reached rather clear consensus there). I think people who put "menstruator" or "people who menstruate" in the search box are better off being redirected to a page on menstruation and its terminology rather than a page on Gender neutrality in English. - Hi Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus, I am just wondering if you have an opinion on this? The information about menstruator has been reinstated at Menstruation#Terminology so I suggest to redirect People who menstruate to there. EMsmile (talk) 13:34, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- @EMsmile I am fine with that. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 14:44, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- OK thanks. And what about you, User:Crossroads? EMsmile (talk) 15:02, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- Agreed and done. Crossroads -talk- 03:03, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
