Other examples of exaggeration or fabrication?

[edit]

I saw Julia, the film, tonight on Turner Classic Movies. In the introduction, host Ben Mankiewicz said that many (most?) historians believe the story to be exaggerated or even fictitious (or words to that effect), as well as other stories from Lillian Hellman's memoirs. Does the coverage of the Julia story in this article represent the most current thought and what are the other examples from the Hellmen memoirs that are thought to be similarly less than true? Another possible inspiration for Julia

[edit]

Is is possible that another inspiration for Julia was Mildred Harnack? She was executed for her involvement in the German underground in 1943. Hellman would have heard Harnack's story from Martha Dodd, a good friend of Harnack. Prescottbush (talk) 04:24, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
