The result of the move request was: page moved. Armbrust The Homunculus 10:20, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
Penteconter (ship) → Penteconter – Extremely obvious primary meaning. Just try a simple Google Books search. Current dabpage at penteconter doesn't even include a link to the alternative topic (a type of low-ranking commander). Peter Isotalo 15:36, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

- Support per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and per User:Born2cycle/UNDAB. The other use listed on the dab page does not even have an article. --B2C 17:43, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- Support since there really is only one primary meaning. Torquemama007 (talk) 17:51, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- Support by far more common in usage. Constantine ✍ 09:07, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

- Support. Clear primary meaning. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:49, 30 April 2014 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]- Any additional comments:
- Comment: The destination name is already occupied. The nominator has neglected to say what should happen to the article that is already there, and no notice has been put on the Talk page of that article to indicate that there is a discussion happening here that might result in something happening to it. —BarrelProof (talk) 18:38, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- It's a dabpage that actually used to be about the ship, not an article. There has never even been a redlink to the obscure military term. It was not a very good move to begin with and was done without seeking consensus. Formalities are irrelevant in these cases. Peter Isotalo 21:34, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, and there's actually nothing confirming that the term even exists. Peter Isotalo 21:39, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- So, what is your suggestion about what should happen to the article that is already at Penteconter? Whatever your suggestion is, I strongly suggest adding some notification to Talk:Penteconter so that anyone watching that article will be informed of this discussion. —BarrelProof (talk) 22:12, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- I really don't care. It's completely unverifiable and indicates zero notability. But here goes.[1] Peter Isotalo 22:35, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- The other meaning does seem to exist. It is the first meaning listed in the Collins English Dictionary online (http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/penteconter). I guess that should count as verification. —BarrelProof (talk) 22:54, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
- Speaking as a Greek, and someone interested in ancient and medieval warfare, the by far most common usage, and hence primary meaning, would be the ship, not the military rank. The latter, obviously deriving from pentekonteres, is a specifically Spartan form of a term far more commonly found as "pentecontarch", or directly transliterated as "pentekontarchos". Usage by the Achaemenids
[edit]Perhaps some info about the widespread usage of them by the Achaemenids, mostly with Greek personnel? - LouisAragon (talk) 03:14, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
