Who Brews?
[edit]The official site for Stoney's Beer is coprighted by Jones Brewing Company, not Pittsburgh Brewing Company. Is Stoney's still brewed by Jones or is PBC using Jones' name? Squamate 02:24, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
Erie Brewing Co
[edit]The list says that the Erie Brewing Co closed in 1922. How would I distinguish between that & the new Erie Brewing Co that was founded in 1993. --Dtbohrertalk•contribs 22:28, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Overhaul/update
[edit]I would like to overhaul/update this page. It is full of good information, but I would like to organize the list a little beeter.
Inclusion criteria?
[edit]I propose we follow Wikipedia:Notability (breweries) for the inclusion criteria here.
Minimally, each entry has to be verifiable. To avoid WP:NOTDIRECTORY, WP:NOTADVERTISING, and WP:NPOV problems, each entry without it's own article should be verified by independent, reliable sources. --Ronz (talk) 16:41, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
- This page is attempting to provide a comprehensive list of active breweries and brewpubs and an archive of defunct breweries, arguably with minimal historical consequence. I looked at a number of such state lists to understand whether the notability criteria was being followed broadly. My survey indicated that this article is not unique in its lack of adherence to that criterion. Perhaps your proposal is meant to apply to all those lists as well. Limiting the list to "notable" breweries only would make it less "complete", which makes it less useful to the reader interested in knowing the breweries or brewpubs available to him in a particular geography. In addition, I don't see the relevance of the "not advertising" or "not point of view" concerns because the list is attempting to be comprehensive (not advertising a particular entity or product) and provides no opinions. I see the "not directory" concern and understand the removal of the links to the breweries websites, even though I think the links provide additional depth of information. My final point is that the link to the Pennsylvania Control Board license search system is the ultimate verifiable reference because it lists the current active licensees. --

- I already pointed out Talk:List_of_breweries_in_San_Diego_County,_California, so I'm going to avoid repeating what's there for now.
- So you think we could possibly use the Pennsylvania Control Board database as a reference? I'm not sure that will be enough, but I think it would be worthwhile to at least see what could be done with it. --Ronz (talk) 04:46, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Links to official sites should be removed
[edit]The links to the official sites should be removed per WP:NOTDIRECTORY, WP:NOTADVERTISING and WP:EL. --Ronz (talk) 16:56, 24 October 2012 (UTC)
