[edit]A photo or two of the museum building/courtyards and the Harrison Rotunda would be nice additions - AKeen 04:02, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
Since when
[edit]Since when is the museum "commonly knowns as the UPM"? The University Museum is how I have always heard it referred to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.123.86.203 (talk) 21:02, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Unsourced
[edit]I have removed the following info from the page since it has been unsourced for a long time, and I never have found any reference of it elsewhere. "(and the subject of a dramatic theft and rescue some years ago; the crystal ball was discovered stowed in a bowling bag in the home a relative of one of the thieves, while its elegant silver stand, a stylized ocean wave, was found in a culvert not far from the Museum." - AKeen 16:13, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- It was rather big news in Philadelphia at the time; I found an Inquirer reference, although, alas, I couldn't substantiate my favorite detail, the bowling ball bag, in the archive summary available online. Robertissimo 22:49, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Museum's name
[edit]According to today's NYT editorial about the Exhibition on the Silk Road etc., the museum's current name is "Penn Museum." the article makes a point of the name change, but does not give a reference.211.225.30.91 (talk) 12:29, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
- I think the website of the museum, which changed to penn.museum, is a pretty good reason to change the lede, which I did. dm (talk) 14:50, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
2009 restructuring
[edit]I think the section is overweight for a museum article. At most it's two sentences in a "history" section of which there are no other details yet. Thoughts dm (talk) 14:51, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I agree, the history section needs to be fleshed out and the 2009 restructuring should be incorporated as a small part of it. There's no information about the decade after, either, which should be added. - Rfairb May 8 2020 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rfairb (talk • contribs) 22:08, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Revising this article
[edit]Hello Wikipedians! I am a new editor and instructor through Wikipedia Learn, teaching ANTH 420 Museum Anthropology. I've chosen this article to model the editing assignment for my students. I've begun by rewriting and expanding the lead section of the Collections section, and what was formerly the "China" section within it, now titled the "Asia" section. Here is a link to the sandbox where I am writing edits, currently to the Collections section: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Coryannyyz/University_of_Pennsylvania_Museum_of_Archaeology_and_Anthropology?venotify=created
My initial bibliography and editorial plan can be seen here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Coryannyyz/University_of_Pennsylvania_Museum_of_Archaeology_and_Anthropology/Bibliography?veaction=edit&preload=Template:Dashboard.wikiedu.org_bibliography
I welcome feedback on my plans and/or my edits. Coryannyyz (talk) 15:56, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
