The garden is important because it is one of a number of gardens around Falmouth, developed by the Fox family. They have significance in County, Region and nationally (see Wikipedia and ODNB entries - Caroline, Charles and Robert Were Fox). The garden is open to the public and should not be missed by visitors to mid-Cornwall in April, May and June.

The plantings are magnificent and despite the original author of this article's statement, it is well-cared for, not a "jungle".

Some of the plant varieties to be seen on a tour of Penjerrick described at

http://www.penjerrickgarden.co.uk/plants.html

Podocarpus salignus (from Chile), Paulownias, Ginkgo biloba, Acer osakazuki,, Magnolia campbelli, Kalmia latifolia (Calico bush), Hoheria , Laurelia serrata, Magnolia wilsonii, Davidia involucrata (Handkerchief tree), Rhododendron Loderi 'Pink Diamond', Blenchnum ferns, Sequoia (Californian Redwood tree), Rhododendron Loderi King George
