Ad?

[edit]

Is this a late night TV ad for penis puppets or what? I get the feeling a shrill for the industry has struck here...

Questionable quotes from this article:

Very first sentence: " ... for satisfactory and satisfying sexual intercourse ... "

" ... has been in use for over 25 years ... "

" ... quite safe and effective ... "

" ... Almost all current devices perform satisfactorily for a full decade before needing replacement. ... "

" ... Not Only for Men with Erectile Dysfunction ... "

and on and on and on....

This article isn't encyclopedic. It's spam, it's basically an ad. Cowicide (talk) 13:49, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Penile Prosthesis

[edit]

I have edited this page numerous times, and it has always been deleted.

I am unfortunate enough to have had one of these horrible devices implanted, being dysfunctional due to a neuropathy. My wife is not satisfied, and we are getting divorced.

I did better with cavernosal injections (Caverject). I have the AMS latest model (model 700).

These devices are quickly detected by women, as not "feeling right". There is a large series of hard extra lumps in the scrotum, easily detectable. Any girlfriend detects this right away and more than once women have accused me of having a "machine in there".The prosthesis takes at least 20 seconds to inflate, and the penis is not very erect, nor is the glans swollen.

Penetration without lubricant is difficult, and embarrassing.

I have lost sensation along the sides of the penis, and easy orgasm has been lost. Deflating the penis sometimes takes me 3 hours, and it is uncomfortable. The scrotum still hurts nearly 4 years years after surgery. The capsule around the prosthesis is painful, and it gets inflamed when I catch a cold or 'flu (and with this the penis becomes semi-erect the whole day). The reservoir seems to be the cause of quite severe pain in my right suprapubic region, and the scar in my groin (to place the reservoir) is very painful. Now it is also becoming erect spontaneously in my sleep, due I believe to the vascular scar tissue around the prosthesis. The surgeon also messed up, and I needed a second surgery to move the reservoir. I have to wear very loose underwear, otherwise the pressure causes pain.

The length has diminished, and I am 2 cm shorter than I was before, and thinner.

In asking my Physician, he says there is 30% dissatisfaction with these devices, and I would agree.

I am very sorry to have had this device implanted. It needs much more research, and miniaturization, and quicker inflation.

I am even considering having it removed, due to the pain and poor function.

Be very careful before you choose this option. An understanding wife would prefer the cavernosal injections.

From a happy user

[edit]

I went the safe and simple way after too many years of dysfunction. After getting a black and blue penis due to Caverjet injections, I got a straightforward implant. No little engines to break down, just a couple of rods inserted, (done under Medicare by the way), by a Los Angeles surgeon who has plenty of experience. He even gave me a small extra length. Now I am the proud owner of a penis which stands ready (well, kind of) to do its job any suitable time, and can be bent to my will. The sensation is better than ever. It needs attention quite often, which can lead to masturbation overtime if not watchful. Now I'm a much happier man and can go about my day with more focus. Why am I open about this? Because I believe that as a professional actor it is my duty to put forward personal experience for mature discussion, while not hiding behind the curtain of anonymity, often the refuge of cowards and imposters.
