[edit]The physics of this prism does not change when you extend side BC until it coincides with side AD. The corner side CD is just for convenience. Therefore, point O is not necessary at one-third of BC. Or is this just the way all suppliers make it? Paul (talk) 17:15, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- You're right, the original statement is valid only for a certain type of Pellin Broca prisms. I've updated the page with a more general definition of the best rotation axis and added the reference. Clarafly (talk) 08:02, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Are the angles specified dependant on the refractive index of the glass
[edit]Is flint glass used ? What refractive index ? Presumably the 90 degrees only applies to the frequencies that experience the refractive index (given that the glass is dispersive) that the angles were designed for ? - Rod57 (talk) 23:04, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
