Name
[edit]For the record, I support Pedagogical University of Cracow; that's the official translated name of the organization (just as the official name of Kraków is Kraków, not Cracow).-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk 16:47, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- Please be advised, that the official page translated from Polish for the Pedagogical University spells Kraków as Cracow, seemingly unaware of the present day naming conventions regarding their own city's name in English. Here's the citation: "The students can use well equipped dormitories, "Za kolumnami" ("Behind Columns") being the most modern and luxurious facility of the kind in Cracow. "[1] We can do better than that. --Poeticbent talk 18:05, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- I look here (isn't this the official page) and see big "Cracow" at the top...?-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk 18:41, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- PoeticBent, there is no denying this. Charles 19:09, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I do see what you see. However, it is not as if the University was a historical entity with old time English spelling worth fighting for like the previous article. If you look at "GEO, Colleges and Universities, Poland",[2] which is an English website, you'll find that the English translation is not up to standard. I feel inspired to email the webmaster, but I had enough controversy for now, so I won't. --Poeticbent talk 21:00, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- And yet from the same list:
- Academy of Economics in Cracow
- Agricultural University of Cracow
- Fine Arts Academy “Jan Matejko” in Cracow
- Jagiellonian University Cracow
- Ludwik Solski State Academy of Theatre in Cracow
- Music Academy in Cracow
- Physical Education Academy in Cracow
- School of Banking and Management in Cracow
- Technical University of Cracow
- Amazing ability of selective reading, to spot the only Krakow, and not to see dozen of Cracows all over the page. M0RD00R 22:27, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:AP-logo-Krakow.jpg
[edit]Image:AP-logo-Krakow.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Pedagogical University of Kraków → Pedagogical University of Cracow – This is the official name of the University according to their website. Cities and universities named after them don't need to have the same name on Wikipedia, see Peking University and Beijing, China Genealogizer (talk) 19:05, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose. Spelling Cracow is nowadays considered antiquated in the English world. The official name of the University is in the Polish language only. The medium of instruction is the Polish language. Poeticbent talk 06:14, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose per Poeticbent. —Roman Spinner (talk)(contribs) 18:48, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
- The most common name for the city is irrelavent to what we call the university, see Peking University. And "Cracow" is still used in English sometimes. Genealogizer (talk) 22:08, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
