PISD (Pearland Independent School District) board meetings may be addressed by the public, but basically this is a nod and smile session devoid of discussion. Substantive discussion and voting is done in closed session. Of course ultimate redress lies in the election process, but if the decision-making process is not open then on what basis do we vote? Information regarding the nature of the board, its powers and the rules governing its actions would be valuable.
