Clit
[edit]"The lyrics of the song include a word that sounds like clitoris, albeit pronounced with an emphasis on the second syllable: "Is she trying to get out of that clitORis?"" - the internet opines that this is clitares, apparently a French word for bikini or swimsuit; but this sounds like an urban legend, because Google only links clitares with discussions about Peaches. It doesn't seem to exist outside the lyrics of the song. -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 12:00, 12 July 2014 (UTC)
- That's right. The only source for it is a vandalized earlier version of this article.
There is actually a reference to a "clitares" as a French bathing suit in the Houston Press - July 5th, 2013.[1]
As well, in the context of the words, it seems more likely to be some kind of clothing: "Is she tryin' to get outta that clitares?" How could she try to "get outta that clitoris?" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.220.163.164 (talk) 02:45, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- It almost got the band in trouble as it included a reference to a clitares, which is a type of bathing suit in France
- Except it isn't. As can easily be verified by checking, searching, doing actual journalism &c.. The only source for that statement (which is also repeated in an AVClub article) is this article.
STFU about the Sex Pistols and sh!t like that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.30.55.165 (talk) 04:54, 3 May 2018 (UTC)
