Forgot the identity

The original recipe for the group neglected to include the identity matrix along with the Pauli matrices. The result was that the identity matrix was not produced. The second definition is and was correct. NormHardy 03:50, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Pauli matrices page?

I do. The Pauli group is a topic of interest for theoretical and mathematical physicists, as well as mathematicians. Pauli matrices are introduced in undergrad courses on quantum mechanics, and should have a separate article aimed at a wider and less mathematical audience.
