It's come to my attention that this person's bio changed radically over her career. I'm still researching, but it looks like she started out saying her ancestors knew Native people and had learned from them, and then over time she started claiming to be Native herself. For instance this: 'Paula, herself, was not a member of any Iroquois Nation; she was, however, brought up by her father in the “strong spirit path,” and taught to revere and respect Iroquoian traditions. She and her father considered themselves a Tribe of Two.'Paula Underwood, Turtle Woman Singing (1932-2000).
