- I will review this article shortly. Albacore (talk) 22:06, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
- I am considering failing for a lack of comprehensive information. By looking I can tell this article is rushed, and it does not have all available information included. For instance, by looking at his MLB profile bio I see the name of his wife and children. I see that he played "American Legion and Babe Ruth ball as a youngster with former offensive lineman Everett Lindsay". I see that he threw a no-hitter against Garner High School. He played in the Pan American games for America in 1991. He was a closer for North Carolina and sustained a patella tendon tear in 1991. He was inducted into his high school's hall of fame. Expand the article and inform me when you think it's done. Albacore (talk) 15:40, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm, okay. I'll see what I can do. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:42, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- I've added the name of his wife and that he has
fourthree children. I've beefed up his high school career a bit, including his no-hitter and honors. I added his appearance in the Pan American games, and that he closed in college. I can't find any news sources that talk about Shuey in American Legion or Babe Ruth baseball, or that he played with Everett Lindsay. I can't find that it was a patella tendon tear. I'm assuming that the MLB bio can't be cited as a source, although maybe it can? – Muboshgu (talk) 17:38, 4 October 2012 (UTC)- The profile is what I would call a reliable source, and is acceptable. Albacore (talk) 00:33, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know why I thought it wasn't. I've used it, and I think added what needs to be added. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:22, 7 October 2012 (UTC)

- Comments
- A DAB link
- Fixed. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:05, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- The references are off in spots. Make sure all newspaper titles are italicized, ref 5 needs a publisher since you use publishers of MLB.com further down, you link some newspapers but not others, etc.
- Fixed. I assume you meant ref 4. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:05, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- He also led the Tar Heels in ERA in 1992 (3.13), and also led the team with 87 strikeouts that season, in 69 innings pitched. Reads poorly. Too many "in"s, "also"s. I would prefer you break it up so each year gets at least a sentence.
- Rewritten. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:05, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- That summer, Shuey pitched for the United States national baseball team in the Pan American Games. Implies he pitched in the summer of 1992 due to the order of progression of the text.
- Whoops, put it in the wrong spot. I moved it up to be between the 1991 and 1992 season sentences. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:05, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- There are several mentions of Shuey at UNC in this PDF of records at UNC. Notably his career win percentage and his letter-winning years
- Added. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:51, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- He was on the United States national baseball team and won the S.H. Basnight Award for UNC's most valuable pitcher [1]
- US team already there, but Basnight Award added. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:01, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- This is all from text found on the 1992 year on his MLB bio profile, and sources to back the information up, although the MLB bio profile can be used as a source itself. Please check there for each year and add more information to each year. Thanks. Albacore (talk) 15:00, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Ready for re-review. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:01, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- Shuey struggled with the Indians, with an 0–3 win-loss record, win–loss record
- Fixed – Muboshgu (talk) 17:45, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- The order of progression for the 1994 season is incorrect. According to MLB bio he was promoted to MLB from A-class ball, then to AAA to make a rehab stint. Worth noting he was the tenth AL pitcher to record 4 strikeouts in an inning [2] (57 pitchers all-time have recorded the feat) and that he was the first pitcher promoted from A to MLB since Greg Swindell in 1986 (MLB bio).
- Fixed. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:45, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- He played winter ball for the Senadores de San Juan in 1995 (MLB bio)
- Added – Muboshgu (talk) 21:32, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- Template:MLBy says This template should not ordinarily be used in prose text when piped only to show a year. I see years are linked.
- All uses of the template in prose removed. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:45, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- He had post traumatic disorder [3] in 1996
- Added – Muboshgu (talk) 19:05, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- He pitched in the 1996 post-season, worth noting
- He was placed on the DL often in 1997 (see MLB bio)
- Added – Muboshgu (talk) 21:32, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- 1998 runners in scoring position average is worth noting (MLB bio)
- Added – Muboshgu (talk) 21:32, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- 8 1999 wins tied for a team lead
- Added – Muboshgu (talk) 21:32, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- 2000 and later to come. Albacore (talk) 18:12, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
- Wow, PTSD? How the hell did I not find that? HighBeam FTW I guess. I'll search that resource in more depth while review continues. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:26, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
- they hoped to pair him with Dodgers closer Éric Gagné to form a strong bullpen for the later portions of games not sure Dodgers is needed here, seems redundant
- Since "Dodgers" is used earlier in the sentence, yes it was redundant. Removed second use. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:45, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- The Dodgers sued the Hartford Life Insurance Company over Shuey's $3.25 million salary for the 2004 season, saying the insurance company did not honor their claim. I don't follow... maybe explain?
- I added a clause that mentioned that Hartford had insured Shuey's contract. Often, MLB teams get insurance on player contracts in case of injury. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:41, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- Reference 30 does not support the claim the most lopsided Orioles loss ever and the most lopsided in the majors since 1897, a 30–3 defeat to the Texas Rangers.
- Rewritten with a new source added to ensure accuracy – Muboshgu (talk) 18:27, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- In 2004 while rehabbing, he had a hip injury which ended his rehab [4]. Possibly from fielding a bunt [5].
- Added – Muboshgu (talk) 21:32, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
- End of review. I'll look over the article again, and re-review when these fixed are applied. Albacore (talk) 19:11, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
