Gushing praise!

The tone on this article is way over the top (e.g. he created a revolutionary idea that would change the face of the Internet - Free Internet access) and nothing seems to be verified. There are also plenty of links to this person's stuff being sold or promoted. Unless someone wants to rewrite this hagiography a little more objectively, I'll come back in a few days and trim it way back. Cheers, Neale Neale Monks 21:41, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Request for Comment: Paul Myers (record producer)

There is some disagreement over the biography of this individual, and to what extent it should include all this person's work, his commercial services, industry awards, etc. 18:29, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

  • Comment My sense of alarm comes from the fact that entry favoured by editor User:84.9.191.79 appears to be identical to that for Paul Myers has on a commercial consultancy site, here [1] Whether or not one has copied from the other seems beside the point, the reality is the long version of the biography posted here lacked references and included numerous breathless praises and links to places where Paul Myers services or products could be purchased. In other words, promotion, not information. User:84.9.191.79 also seems to work primarily to add links to products or services provided by Paul Myers or his company (see here Special:Contributions/84.9.191.79). Confused. Are we looking at the same page?

Where does it say "he created a revolutionary idea that would change the face of the Internet - Free Internet access"?

Also I think mention of his book (he is also an author) etc. is relevant and was removed inexplicably from last edit. I have previously contributed to Alan Sugar's profile and this carries much more detail. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.168.44.229 (talk) 00:28, 21 March 2007 (UTC).

The unnamed editor has toned it down (slightly). Originally said "After forming various Internet businesses such as award winning web design agency, Nethead and the UK's first search portal, G.O.D. he created a revolutionary idea that would change the face of the Internet - Free Internet access." [2], now says "...he created a revolutionary business concept - free Internet access with the X-Stream Network." [3] Cheers, Neale Neale Monks 09:20, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Besides, publishing a book doesn't make a person notable. I've published 5, and I don't have a Wikipedia page. Anyway, I've tried to Wikify the article some more. Please add anything to do with individual businesses to their own page -- a biography doesn't need stuff about companies a person works for. Also, try your best to be neutral rather than laudatory. A person unquestionably can have "a career in the music industry" but to say they have a "proven track record" is rather subjective. Cheers, Neale Neale Monks 14:23, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
The article is obviously better now, but I agree with Neale Monk's comment above that there is still a significant dearth of sources. I have added {{fact}} tags to a handful of the statements most needing verification by reliable, third-party sources. -- Satori Son 15:01, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Date of ADBS parting company

The date that Danny Baker put the message on his website was the 15th December not the 5th. Could this be changed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nirst (talkcontribs) 09:01, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
