Cultural reference
[edit]I removed an unsourced claim that went into some detail about Henry's character's alleged traits and included medical terminology that I was not happy with. I was reverted and have again removed it. This is Wikipedia, and I would appreciate it if the information was sourced. It is not enough to say that "it is known to Brits over a certain age" (a paraphrase of the edit summary that originally reverted my removal). We cannot go around making statements that relate to mental health etc without at least some sort of justification. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 23:34, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
Benny
[edit]Benny was/is a term used by the British Forces post 1982 to describe the indigenous male population of the Falkland Islands, as most had never seen Crossroads it didn't arouse any comment however with the advent better tv the local populous soon realised that whilst light hearted it was derogatory and requested that the forces refrain from talking about them in such terms which they duly did, in future they were referred to a SB's, when asked why they now referred to them as SB's the answer was Still Benny's!!!

Crossroad dates and description
[edit]Although it says in the article "Between 1975 and 1988, he played his best-known role of Benny Hawkins, a handyman in Crossroads", the article List of Crossroads characters suggests that he made his last appearance in 1987. That article does have some issues I have noted in the past, but I think the 1987 date could be right as I am sure I have read that in his last appearance (before the character simply disappeared from the series without explanation) he was seen decorating a Christmas tree. Also the handyman description is possibly not entirely fitting. The character was seen doing quite a lot of general menial roles over the years, notably working on the nearby farm with Ed Lawton and working in the Crossroads garage and doing other odd jobs for the motel.
