War

The Germans conquered the Netherlands in 1940. It would be interesting to note what happened to him during the war. One of the linked websites says that he wasn't deported because his wife was Aryan. This was hardly a sufficient reason, though it may have played a role. Probably some of the German commanders liked his music or they had other reasons. If anything is known, please add.
