Marriage and Associated acts
[edit]Where is the source that Paul married Stephanie Ashworth?
Also under Associated acts, I have added T-Rek as Paul has contributed to several of T-Reks albumsMosdefau2 (talk) 13:03, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Poorly Written
[edit]I can't be bothered doing it myself, but this needs to be fixed. It's not written objectively in various parts, and has lots of errors. I just cleaned up some minor punctuation errors, but it sounds like a fanboy/girl wrote it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.28.223.9 (talk) 15:07, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- I agree (even after nearly ten years from when the original comment was written, it is applicable). For example, what does the 'ex-Sandpit' mean in this sentence: "In 2006 he married Stephanie Ashworth (ex-Sandpit), who is Something for Kate's bass guitarist." - So I read Wikipedia:Ten Simple Rules for Editing Wikipedia and it said to type
{{Help me}}
to get help (does it work?). I'm new to Wikipedia and have only done minor edits. Is there a list of Wikipedia pages that need revising that you can add to? Choc96 (talk) 13:26, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- It does work! Welcome to Wikipedia, Choc96. I would reccomend just being [[WP:BOLD]|bold]] and jumping right in and making edits where you see the need for them. There's no one big list of pages that need work becuause this is a fluid encyclopaedia, constantly being updated and maintained. Having said that, a lot of Wikiprojects maintain their own lists of articles that need attention. See the list of Wikiprojects, and pick something you're passionate about, or something you know a lot about! I'd also suggest reading the manual of style, as well as our guidelines on notability, and those on identifying reliable and independent sources. I've dropped a welcome note on your talk page with some more links you might find useful - let me know if you need anything else! -- Thanks, Alfie. talk to me | contribs 16:29, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Choc96. I've edited this article a fair bit, since back in mid-2014. I thought I had improved it from what it was in June 2008. Nevertheless, I'm willing to help you improve it more.
- As for "ex-Sandpit", Ashworth was in another band before she joined Dempsey in Something for Kate, which was called Sandpit: they were a three-piece indie rock group. More about them and Ashworth are found on her article in wikipedia.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:14, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Shaidar cuebiyar, as someone with much more experience with Wikipedia that me, where would you start?
- First gather your sources. Find reliable ones that are independent of the subject. You should probably work backwards from his current activities. The article needs updating on his works since late 2014: what has he been doing?
- Next look for references to cover information marked with [citation needed].
- Then go to the Other projects section and add more sources there.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 11:40, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
Depression
[edit]The article cites, and provides a link to, an Undercover interview in which Dempsey discusses his problems with depression. It also cites Kingsmill's piece on writer's block. Are there citations available for the two specific episodes of depression that are claimed in the article? If not, the reference to his mental health in the "Personal life" section is adequate and those claims should go. I have tagged them both.
There is also an associated problem with the section that reads: "Dempsey began suffering writer's block and depression and toured the U.S. and Europe with the band while he tried to write lyrics for the band's fourth album. It was not until 2003 that The Official Fiction was released." The wording seems to suggest some significance in the timing of the release of The Official Fiction, as if it was delayed by his depression, but without specifying when he toured the US and Europe, the statement is meaningless. Again, without a reliable source to back up the claim that he was suffering depression at that point, it is either speculation or original research and cannot remain. - I do not know who originally contributed this, but your discussion on the matter seems reasonable to me.--Soulparadox (talk) 06:06, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
