Reverted edit

[edit]

@Paulcoleman: I have reverted this edit for several reasons.

  1. The new version is a modified copy of an existing article about this subject: Paul Coleman (sailor). Copying and pasting to create a second article on the same topic creates several problems and is discouraged.
  2. The editor appears to be the subject of the article, which raises the possibility of a conflict of interest.
  3. The subject may not be the primary topic for the title "Paul Coleman". Wikipedia also has articles about other people with similar names. The new version hinders readers who seek information on those namesakes, and it has not been demonstrated why those people should be so relegated.

If you disagree with these points, please start a discussion, perhaps in the form of a requested move, so that we can form a consensus about which pages should appear at which titles. Thanks, Certes (talk) 18:08, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Early life

[edit]

Coleman grew up in Larchmont, New York, close to Horseshoe Harbour and was determined to enter into sailing, which he did with his brothers (Team Coleman).[1]

Coleman and his twin were both students at New York Maritime College and after competing in the 1976 470 Olympic trials, teamed up with Gerard in the Soling.[2]

Sailing career

[edit]

Coleman has competed in many world class events such as the J/24, Soling and Etchells classes.[3] He competed in the United States Sailing Championship at the 1983 Mallory Cup[4] together with his brother Paul and they won the gold medal.[5]
