1967-1973: New York?????

"She collaborated with Allen Lanier of Blue Öyster Cult, who recorded several of the songs to which Smith had contributed, including "Debbie Denise" (after her poem "In Remembrance of Debbie Denise"), "Career of Evil", "Fire of Unknown Origin", "The Revenge of Vera Gemini", and "Shooting Shark"."

All fair enough but "The Revenge of Vera Gemini" (which Patti did the vocals on) is on the Agents of Fortune album which was released in 1976. I can't see the album sitting around for 3 years before release. Any comments?? Candy (talk) 15:36, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance

Not sure if it's worth mentioning, but Smith also performed "Rock and Roll Nigger" and (I believe) "Because the Night" at the inception ceremony/dinner/whatever. I remember thinking it odd that both songs would be from the same album. Also, R&RN was basically bleeped out entirely in some sections when aired on VH1. The question wasn't whether or not Smith's profile matched the template: what I'm asking is why there needs to be a differentiation between where the person was born and where their music "originated." Patti's Smith's first meeting with Robert Mapplethorpe

I heard a radio interview with Patti Smith a couple of days ago on NPR. She says that she met Mapplethorpe when she went to the former apartment of some friends of hers in New York. When the person who answered the door told her that her friends had moved, she asked if he knew where they'd gone. He said that he didn't but that the other guy in the apartment might know. Speaking of which, a very good, nearly hour-long interview with Smith (mostly about her time with Mapplethorpe, but also including two live acoustic songs) just went up online, and perhaps should be an external link in the article. I leave that last decision to someone actively working on this, and I fully understand the danger of propagating too many external links. Anyway, the interview is:

Obama Support

She did not support Obama in 08. I'm not sure where the Huffingtonpost author got his information. She spoke at several Nader rallies, donated 1k to his campaign at a rally and encouraged others to donate as well. There was also a LA Times version of the piece that was on HuffingtonPost [1]. Campaign contribution records show 2008 donations by Patti Smith to Nader as late as May 2008, but none to Obama.[2]--Larrybob (talk) 02:13, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Edits about adoption

I've just reverted two edits from an anonymous ip user, and one from a logged in editor, all unexplained, that quite significantly change the information about the child Smith had adopted (the year of birth, and the sex of the baby). I don't have access to the source cited. I just tried to search for information on this and most sources I found don't mention the year of birth or gender of the baby. This one calls the baby "him", but I'm not sure that's enough to go on. If someone has access to Just Kids, perhaps they could check this? In the meantime, if anyone believes the current info to be incorrect, please discuss it here, citing reliable sources.--BelovedFreak 19:27, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
