... that Patrick Degorce was Rishi Sunak's boss at successive hedge funds, before Sunak entered politics? Source: "There were two hedge fund managers who made a bundle out of the rise and fall - Chris Hohn and Patrick Degorce. I mention them because the new Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, worked with and for both of them." ITV News
ALT1: ... that Patrick Degorce was an officer in the French Navy before becoming a hedge fund manager? Source: "Patrick Degorce served as an officer in the French Navy in his twenties, before making an unorthodox leap into the financial services sector." City AM
ALT2: ... that hedge fund manager Patrick Degorce was an early investor in Moderna, hoping they could find a cure for his wife's stage 4 lung cancer? Source: "The first time hedge-fund manager Patrick Degorce met with biotech company Moderna Inc., it was a hail-Mary effort to find a cure for his wife." WSJ
Overall: Concerning the hooks, of the three hooks I think ALT2 is the most interesting. This nomination is very technically not submitted within 7 days of creation (it's within 7 days, 10 hours and 38 minutes) but that's close enough that I'm going to count that as within the timeframe because that would be silly to disqualify it because of that. If someone else has an issue with that they can address it, but it won't be me. Regarding the prose in the article, the text led to its "disastrous" takeover could use clarification or in-text attribution on who is calling it disastrous, likewise with the "unorthodox leap" quote. The sentence talking about after its "failed" cost cutting plans likewise seems like an MOS:SCAREQUOTES issue. Once those small issues are addressed I think it should be good to go. - Aoidh (talk) 20:18, 21 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Aoidh Thank you. I have added another source, and done some rewording to remove all the quotes you mention. The RBS - ABN AMRO debacle should be well covered elsewhere on the Wiki. Edwardx (talk) 10:53, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is stated in British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's biography on wikipedia that he was a partner at the hedge fund "Theleme Partners". When you click on the hotlink for "Theleme Partners", it redirects to this wiki page "Patrick Degorce". Why does the search for "Theleme Partners" redirect to the wikipedia page for "Patrick Degorce"? 194.193.223.241 (talk) 17:45, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
