Revise text on Navigation?

[edit]

Haus42, can you revise the text on passage planning located at navigation so that its a smaller, one-paragraph affair? - Davandron | Talk 00:46, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be happy to, I want to wait for it to stabilize a little first, though. Cheers. Haus42 15:43, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Route input on and ARPA and GPS unit?

[edit]

"it is becoming common practice to also enter it into electronic navigation tools such as a Electronic Chart Display and Information System, a chartplotter, an ARPA system, or a GPS unit.[10]"

Could you revise the above statement, an ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aid) is primarily used for collision avoidance, it is not a navigation tool as such. Also a GPS 'unit' will normally be used to provide positional data for an ECDIS or Chartplotter, they very rarely have the capacity to have a route loaded into them.

request for learning

[edit]

if one wishes to sail how long does one set aside for the big event? i find the total outlay of the proposition of interest.

none of the wiki articles indicate ammount of time spent, modernly. more interesting would be manhours a large ship takes berth to berth v. time a small ship and voyage takes (all time including loading, except the transit time). let's incl. schooling as well large and small. thank you for reading the request. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Navstar55 (talkcontribs) 23:41, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
