Freaks etc.

[edit]

You're aware of that tool at the IMDb? It used to be called the Power Search. I forget its name now.
Anyway, you can target specific information rather than trying to recall details in an incomplete and haphazard fashion.
I was a major editor there in the 1990s.

The reason I originally removed it was because the connection isn't as inherent as it is to Veronica Mars, there's an actual connection between the two shows. All four creators were involved on VM, with one of them creating the show. There's a reason so many actors from VM were on Party Down, because there's connection with Rob Thomas being able to get the actors. There's no real connection to Freaks and Geeks, none of the PD creators were involved with F&G. I just used that feature on IMDB (thanks!), and I found a whopping 59 connections with VM, while just 5 with F&G. I have no problem with the inclusion of F&G, it's just I find it somewhat trivial, as any show can have connections with any other show. Drovethrughosts (talk) 17:40, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes and no.
One connection is major; one is of lesser consequence.
A couple of points.
1) Are there hundreds of people lining up here on this page to claim connections and then justifying it? Well, you've got one guy doing that.
2) Are there countless connections to other shows? Yes and no. These people live in a one-industry town, but they don't know everybody. They like to work with people they've dealt with before who are pleasant on and off camera. Their careers don't extend back to infinity. There might be as many as 3 or 4 shows with a significant and non-coincidental degree of linkage, but it would certainly not be more than that. In fact, the list might be as short as these two.
3) I'd never heard of the show until last night when I saw the DVD, and thought, Look, you've got Veronica people mixed with Freaks people; isn't that interesting.
I've been watching ER a lot lately. Years ago, it was always billed as the "Tune in this week and watch George Clooney be handsome again" show. Some dumb soap. So I never saw it back then, and I don't know any guy who did.
But it turns out to be quite intelligent, and has cute girls. Including two from Freaks.
My point is I have been documenting the minor guest stars as I might have done a decade ago for the IMDb. To see if anything interesting turns up.
Well, one thing I have noticed is the first couple of seasons have bit parts played by obscure performers who had previously been in movies with star Anthony Edwards.
So is that coincidental? Maybe yes, maybe no.
The person who gets 3 minutes of screen time could be the person who is hilarious around the catering table at lunch time. We really don't know unless we live and work there in that industry.
I happen to have noticed that you took a look at Turkish WP recently. Most WPans, not me, stick to one language and don't roam around much. Were you looking for something interesting over there?
Some of my main pages involve foreign language films and books, so I'm always over in those other places.
I'm translating a Swedish page into English at the moment.

Well, I don't got much else to say. But, I'll reply to your last question. The Turkish WP, um, I guess I clicked a link on here which lead there, which then it creates your userspace on there. So yeah, I do just stick to the English Wikipedia as it's the only language I know. Oh yeah, should the expansion tag on the F&G section be removed then, as it really can't be expanded any further. Main Cast

[edit]

Jennifer Coolidge is listed as part of the main cast, with the following addendum between brackets: "Season 1, episodes 9–10." Why would this article list someone who has been in merely two episodes as part of the main cast? Two episodes out of two seasons constitutes guest starring at most. Could someone either correct the amount of episodes in which she was involved (assuming she was involved in any more episodes) or move her name to the recurring cast list (assuming appearing in two adjacent episodes constitutes recurrence), please? 81.99.193.239 (talk) 17:11, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

She replaced Jane Lynch for the last two episodes of season 1, and was included with the rest of starring cast in the credits. That's why she's listed among the main cast. Drovethrughosts (talk) 17:21, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Complete Oral History

[edit]

This symposium on the show from the January 2011 issue of Details could be used by an interested editor to dramatically expand the article. Skomorokh 16:24, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the link, I've just read some of it, but it looks fantastic. I'll definitely be expanding the article with information from that link. Thanks again! Drovethrughosts (talk) 19:15, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 4 external links on Party Down. Please take a moment to review my edit. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
