Requested move
[edit]Any chance this can be moved back to simply Lindsey? There are 34-odd pages that point to that, which now go the Lindsay surname redirection page at Lindsay, whereas there are less than 10 valid pages that point to Lindsay itself. Owain 13:26, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
- Support. Don't quite see the point of rd'ing Lindsey to Lindsay since they are, er, spelled differently. Other uses could be listed on Lindsey (disambiguation) -- but as far as I can see, there's nothing to dispute this place's claim to the undisambigged article title. –Hajor 20:22, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
- Oppose. A Google search [1] is fairly conclusive. There are no references to the subject of this article itself in the top 200, and only five to East Lindsey and West Lindsey, which have their own articles, and to Kirton in Lindsey, which people won’t be looking here for anyway. Before you ask, there are quite a few Wikipedia articles in the search, but not this one. Of course a disambiguation page shouldn’t be linked to, but that doesn’t mean any one meaning deserves priority. Susvolans ⇔ 16:38, 30 September 2005 (UTC)
- Support. Apart from a possible etymological one, there is no connection between Lindsay and Lindsey. Unlike Lincoln or Lindsay, Lindsey is not easily confused with anything. The only problem seems to be that people have not heard of it. So call it by its name and let them read about it, that is what encyclopedias are for. If you really must complicate the issue, call it Lindsey (kingodom and county) but then, you leave the name Lindsey free for an article on what? (RJP 22:05, 1 October 2005 (UTC))
Discision
[edit]Moved as requested. Ryan Norton T | @ | C 11:23, 15 October 2005 (UTC)
Merge/split
[edit]The ancient stuff should either be moved to Kingdom of Lindsey or the articles merged. Right now the article doesn't appear to even to link to Kingdom of Lindsey! Morwen - Talk 10:18, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
Consistency in terms of recent changes
[edit]The article seems to describe the breaking up of the Parts of Lindsey, develops into the 'Humberside' phase and then appears to entirely ignore any part of Lindsey that was not actually part of the short-lived County of Humberside. I accept that East and West Lindsey are mentioned in the text but not under the last paragraph which would be sensible.WelbeckLincs (talk) 21:52, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
Parts of Lindsey
[edit]I shall have to go away and read up on the subject, but having read this article I have found it confusing. There is no real effort made to explain the idea of the Parts of the County of Lincoln, and the text infers that the Parts and their wapentakes were late developments. When I have an answer to my own questions I shall return and post with citations.WelbeckLincs (talk) 21:55, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
