Mention NUMA?
[edit]How closely is PGAS related to Non-Uniform Memory Access? Should we mention NUMA in this article? Should we mention PGAS in the article about NUMA? CWC 11:53, 26 December 2009 (UTC)
- All clustered systems are NUMA. If not by definition in practice 100% of them are. So it is implied. The difference is that PGAS make NUMA even more non-uniform - in NUMA each CPU/core can still access every other location using standard read/write instructions and atomics. It is still "global". In PGAS, access to full coherency is not available, and access to non local address spaces might require use of distinct different instructions or complex routines, unless implemented in hardware (which afaik there is no machines doing so). 81.6.34.246 (talk) 19:31, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
