I think the first paragraph has a error. Partial molar properties are by definition the partial derivative of the extensive quantity with respect to a given mole number with temperature, pressure, and the other mole numbers held constant. The natural variables of say internal energy U, entropy S and volume V do not (directly) factor in to the definition of partial molar internal energy.Stieltjes (talk) 17:33, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, you are right. The phrase at the end of the first sentence, "or for constant values of the natural variables of the extensive property considered", is incorrect here. Someone has probably confused a partial molar property with the chemical potential, which can be written in several forms, including for example a derivative of U with S and V constant. However it is not equal to the partial molar internal energy, but rather to the partial molar Gibbs energy. I will delete the incorrect phrase. Dirac66 (talk) 19:33, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
