This is just a stub. I hope to do a lot more research and perhaps others will as well. Parkway Pines is interesting from a historical perspective because it was at the leading edge of the migration from city to suburb, in this case aided by the recently constructed Garden State Parkway, a four lane uninterrupted road (except for the occasional barrier toll) which whisked people from city to outlying suburb in an hour or so.
I am the original author, and I thank the person who added the part about Ramtown. I grew up in Parkway Pines;my grandparents were original homesteaders there and were close friends for many years with other homesteaders.
The Fishers added a second story in the late 1960s, becoming the first family in Parkway Pines to do so. Interestingly, the Parkway Pines ZIP code, 08701, is a Lakewood ZIP code, though the community resides entirely in Brick. When it was first constructed, the enclave was much closer to populated areas of Lakewood than to the nearest populated areas of Brick. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wbennettjr (talk • contribs) 21:48, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
I removed the "orphan" tag after linking the article about Brick Township to this one.
