I had to change it myself. PARKWAY DRIVE AR NOT DEATH METAL!!!!!!!! They are hardcore punk, i changed it to say that. Whatever idiot put that their, dosent know jack all about music —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.137.182.173 (talk) 21:39, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
i just edited this page to get rid of all the suckup wanky shit, and the "metal deathcore" genre or whatever they called it.. jsut stupid.
Parkway are probably one of the best bands to come out from Australia. I have personally seen them about 20 times and everytime I see them they ALWAY play a great show. Jia their old merch guy now bass player hit on me at a show it was pretty funny.
hmm, it was close, i went to a Parkway Drive concert and got kicked in the head.
twice!
To call Parkway Drive anything even close to metal is an insult to metal and to the band. Its hardcore, plain and simple, there are no metal influences and they sure as hell dont sound like metal. And if you think that that is metal, you seriously need to go and get a clue.
- Have to agree with you about the genre. I actually quite like them but dont see any influence of metal except that they use guitars a bass and a drumkit. They definitely hardcore, *possibly* metalcore but metal; not really. Trivium have only just fallen under the metal genre and theyre far more metal than Parkway
- Compare the band to Negative Approach, a hardcore band, and At the Gates, a melodic death metal band. Parkway Drive is metal, like it or not. Jon138 16:07, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
- I guess the confusion is caused by the fact that the definition of hardcore has changed so much over the years. Hardcore today is much closer to metal than it is to punk, and Parkway Drive are likewise closer to metal than punk. But they ARE in the distinct sub-genre of modern hardcore, although their breakdowns are quite metal-oriented. You need to look at the whole spectrum of hardcore from punk-influenced at one end to metal-influenced at the other. Parkway Drive are obviously much more influenced by metal and I personally think they should be termed metalcore.
- Compare the band to Negative Approach, a hardcore band, and At the Gates, a melodic death metal band. Parkway Drive is metal, like it or not. Jon138 16:07, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
Parkway Drive are a Post-Hardcore band, plain hardcore is stuff like Blag Flag
Parkway Drive isn't Post-Hardcore, post-hardcore is like Stick To Your Guns or With Honor...it isn't even deathcore man, just because they include growls in their vocals doesn't mean they're death, their riffs aren't even close to be death metal influenced. Check Job For A Cowboy or Through The Eyes Of The Dead for deathcore
- One more genre change - I feel the metalcore and melodic death tags are fair (much as id rather not think of the band as melodic death :s), but the thrash metal tag was not, so it has been removed - PWD in no way sounds like thrash - listen to venom, DRI, slayer, WxHxN, Anthrax, Testament, Sacred Reich, Sodom - pwd in no way sounds like any of these bands.
- I removed the Melodic Death Metal tag. Just because they borrow Gothenburg riffs and water them down doesn't make them Melodic Death Metal in any shape or form, they are a Hardcore band influenced by Melodic Death Metal (and even then not by much).
- I think the Melodic death tag was reasonably accurate. to avoid confusion I'll remove the Death metal tag as well, as they are even further removed from that than they are from melo-death. I believe the tage 'metalcore,' contrived, hated and annoying as it may be, is most appropriate.
- Well can we add hardcore to the "genres" part under the background information?
Parkway drive are not metal, death metal of melodic death metal, screamed vocals and heavy guitar riffs does not mean they are death metal, any reasonable source will inform you that the band is strictly hardcore and metalcore with a metal unfluence, members of the band say the same in interviews, so please remove the melodic death metal tag as it is inapprpriate
Metalcore vs melodic deathcore edit war
Hi kids, maybe you could discuss the finer points and reasoning behind describing them as one or another? If you could produce a source or two that'd be super. Cheers, Cleduc 05:16, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
ask members of the band themselves. Parkway Drive make Melodic Deathcore Music. Deathcore Vocals(no melodies in the singing) with the same breakdowns as Deathcore only containing melodic guitar fills and verses. come october i will even ask, the members again at their Horizons show in melbourne, and record the interview if i get the chance...that is if we're all stubborn enough to need proof. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ledzeppelin1 (talk • contribs) 23:59, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, you don't seem to be aware of how Wikipedia works. For what's worth, I can live with the deathcore tag, but the important thing is... my opinion is unimportant. And neither is the opinion of the band in question. It doesn't matter whether you record interviewing them... that is called original research and POV. You need a neutral, third party reliable source; in this case a record review or magazine article would be appropriate (a book would be ideal, but that seems unlikely). Commercially-published print magazines are better sources than online sites as any man and his dog can set up his own website. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 19:36, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
Hardcore.
hey every, i just want to put my point across about this genre. harcore borrows 90% of everything of metal. When you think about it their fashion is different. eg small t shirts tight jeans tattoos (sleaves). With the music there song arrangement is a little different, they still have all the breakdowns and 2 step parts. HArdcore is a sub genre of metal it is unique, but when ppl are saying that they are Medolic/hardcore/deathmetal they are pretty much right... it wierd but thats just my point of view —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.135.109.198 (talk) 11:16, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- You have the wrong impression of hardcore. Hardcore didn't borrow from metalcore, metalcore originated from hardcore. Read the article on hardcore punk. Don't expect to see Underoath anywhere on there. -- FatalError (talk | contribs) 03:05, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- This guy is right, Hardcore punk is what happened when someone wanted a heavier punk band, they didnt borrow from metalcore, and Parkway Drive isnt Deathmetal anyway, it is Hardcore Punk/Metal. They have one song that is remotely like deathmetl is 'Smoke em if you got em' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.137.182.173 (talk) 21:47, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- i don't listen to hardcore punk form the starts but didn't they shout not scream (e.g. gallows they're new but an example)Jonjonjohny (talk) 21:41, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
The REAL original bass player.
Past band members. I'm from Byron, been good mates with Winston and his brother since I was a kid, same goes for Ben and his brother. After watching the band flourish.. I am a little upset about how the 'fans' that have contributed to this article have failed to mention that Cashy was NOT the original bass player, he only played bass for about 4 months.. MABEY! It was a guy called Brett who played bass from start untill the release of Killing With a Smile. The first show that he didn't play with the band was for the Boys of Summer tour with Evergreen Terrace (the second time round in January 2006). He left because of money and personal reasons and the bass track for the Album was recorded here in Aust. by him, then added in the American lab. But in no way can Cashy claim any titles to do with who Parkway Drive were then and are today, he wrote nothing and recorded nothing, he simply filled in for that tour and Pipey took over from then on when they left the country for the international tour. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.138.47.205 (talk) 11:50, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
I think you'll find Luke recorded all the bass over in the USA, without any input from Brett. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wildzero777 (talk • contribs) 19:13, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Useless tour data
I think all the tour dates in the article are in the wrong place. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a fan page. It's not necessary to know which bands Parkway Drive has toured with in such detail as it does not tell anything about the band. A short summary of the bigger bands may be well enough to get an idea which scene PWD belongs to, that's it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.130.181.223 (talk) 20:17, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
- these articles are designed to archive all information on bands so it not useless just show people who they've toured with. Jonjonjohny (talk) 16:51, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Death metal?
Sounds like a death metal band to me. Sounds just like Arch Enemy but much more different. Also has some hardcore like comeback kid. Zenity
I can see why you thought that, but the band does lack certain elements that are present in death metal. RPI 17:30, 08 November 2007
- Parkway Drive are anything but death metal, they're completely a metalcore band, they sound nothing like Arch Enemy for one, and even if they did, Arch Enemy is a melodic death metal band. • GunMetal Angel 23:01, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
I agree there sound is too clean and too much hardcore punk influence to have Melodic death metal to be a tag on them. melodic metalcore is the best to describe them.Jonjonjohny (talk) 21:42, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Well, Parkway Drive is more metal than hardcore… • GunMetal Angel 18:33, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
New band picture?
I think it's worth getting a more recent image of the group. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.201.151.80 (talk) 10:41, 27 October 2012 (UTC)
I agree with the changing of the band picture, can I sugguest http://i.imgur.com/oxsUx.jpg ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.64.78.202 (talk) 02:02, 22 November 2012 (UTC)
Deathcore?
JUST CALL IT METAL AND BE DONE WITH IT. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.27.255.242 (talk) 20:01, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
Is there any source that says Parkway Drive is deathcore? 50.35.69.35 (talk) 08:01, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
I think they're metalcore/deathcore. just metalcore is something like killswitch engage, trivium, all that remains, etc. parkway drive have deathcore elements, such as the vocals, and they're much heavier than other metalcore bands, and also less melodic. every contemporary metalcore band uses screamed vocals, and has at least somewhat clean singing.. parkway drive has growling vocals, and no clean vocals. though, they are more metalcore than deathcore, so i think it's ok, if i add deathcore to their genre — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.138.38.184 (talk) 12:31, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well you're wrong, lol this band is not deathcore and does not have "deathcore elements". • GunMetal Angel 21:32, 22 May 2012 (UTC)
Parkway Drive is Metalcore/ Metal. Period. They even admit it themselves that they were a 'Hard-core/ Metal' Band. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.7.203.150 (talk) 00:46, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
