The son of Pareto

[edit]

i've done some previous reading for a university module, where i came across a book about pareto's son, this was a very old book which i can no longer get my hands on. The son of Pareto was also a sociologist and philosopher with a slightly darker take on the world. i was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction in regard to finding any biographical information or even just a run down of his ideas. 79.72.244.215 19:32, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Introducing a “Pareto principle history”

[edit]

Reporting the talk from “pareto principle”

80-20 rule ?? - For my part, I've ever heard of a "20-80 rule" so far.

  • May be this is not very important. But the starting point of organisation is to aim at better comfort and efficiency, isn'it ? So, admitted that the basical form is "x-y rule", the fact that Pareto allowes us to organize better refers to the y/x ratio, describing the increasing effect of a right distribution as "four times more than invested". And the corresponding ratio is 20-80, not 80-20, that warns us not to forget that decreasing effect(s) do follow the phenomenon. Is that correct ? 2rh (talk) 13:22, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Unless the correct form in english is "y-x rule" Is it ??? 2rh (talk) 13:24, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pareto principle - For my part, i've heard that "Pareto's principle is "not to get a linear distribution", for a linea distribution is impossible to organize (source : ENISE 1974). As a consequence of it, Pareto's principle can't be reduced to on of its ratios, even if on of them is very popular. The second most popular ratio of a Pareto distribution beeing "50-95" (still admitted - question above - that the correct form of a ration in english is "x-y", not "y-x" 2rh (talk) 13:35, 22 December 2008 (UTC) ===Concluding=== that “Pareto principle” and one of its ratios, whatever, should be separated nowadays. ===Introducing=== the apparently unedited observation that the french philoopher René Descartes has already introduced the further so called “Pareto principle” (please, learn more in french on my site [[1]]) ===Considering=== the editing rule according which unedited facts should not be reported on an encyclopedy ===Suggesting=== that a solution about “Pareto principle history” has to be found anyway, in the “Pareto guideline” with or without its new page on Wikipedia, and a possible link to my site; presently providing the expected information in french. What do you think ? 2rh (talk) 14:13, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • After a short request for help, and a glance on Gtstricky' talk page (Talk), I thik i've rather directly write my point now, and remain openminded to possible further observations. Thank you 2rh (talk) 14:47, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
