There are several species of Pardalotus listed on de:Panthervögel, which are not included here, including de:Pardalotus melanocephalus, on which there is an article. Are these missing here, or have they been classified differently? Rigadoun (talk) 19:47, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of rictal bristles

[edit]

I was taught at school that the bristles are used to sense and counter last-second evasions by flying or at least rapidly-moving critters. Since the pardalotes eat things like lerps and scale insects that are essentially motionless, they don't need these bristles. Unfortunately I don't have a verifyable source for this so I am not putting this into the main article. Old_Wombat (talk) 09:29, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Peep-wrens?

[edit]

I have never heard the name peep-wren used for this bird. The only mention of that name is in the lead, where it isn't sourced. (Unless it's mentioned in the book used later as a source.) Can that name be either properly sourced, or removed? HiLo48 (talk) 03:48, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have never heard the name either. Hmm.......Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 05:26, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Looking on google and google books, some evidence that it is a localised name - in which case could end up in taxonomy section but in no way notable enough for lead Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 05:28, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
