I think we need some published references here to keep this page alive. I am unsure about the actual build dates. The dates move between 1892 and 1895, these could reflect the initial decision to build and actual completion dates. We need clarification.
Also as much as I would love to think of the socialist men of the valleys with pipes in hand discussing Marxism and "All them cornfields and ballet in the evening", I find it doubtful. It was more than likely somewhere to go to avoid the wife for a few hours. I have only seen one website that states this claim, and it is unsourced. - After much research I withdraw my initital statement. The miners did actually sit around with pipes discussing Marxism. Though it still needs a proper reference from a notable source. FruitMonkey (talk) 16:29, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
