I'll get this later today (for me in the US). – zmbro (talk) 19:50, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dope, should be good to see! Kyle Peake (talk) 20:47, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Infobox and lead
  • Infobox is good
  • "It includes a feature from English musician Mr Hudson, who West ultimately signed to GOOD Music." → "It includes a feature from English musician Mr Hudson and background vocals from Kid Cudi."
  • "West co-produced the song with Jeff Bhasker and Plain Pat, with the three of them co-writing it along with rappers Consequence and Kid Cudi, who also provides background vocals." → The song was written by West, Jeff Bhasker, Plain Pat, Consequence, and Kid Cudi, and produced by West, Bhasker, and Plain Pat."
  • "The composition includes" → "The song features"
  • "The lyrical content of the song" → "Its lyrical content"
  • Why is the fact that it charted in Belgium and Australia worth mentioning in the lead but not that in charted multiple times in the US? Why not "It charted in the United States, Belgium, and Australia in 2009."...?
Because it charted in the top 100 of the major music charts in those territories, while in the US it never reached the Hot 100 and only on lesser charts.
It'd be better to just mention all of them
  • "West and Mr Hudson have performed the song live together on numerous occasions, including a performance at the 2009 iTunes Festival." – cut "a performance"
  • "An accompanying music video was released on June 3, 2009 and directed by Nabil Elderkin. Rihanna has a lead role in it, with the video being based around a fantasy from her paranoid mindstate. The video was released to positive reviews from critics." → "An accompanying music video, directed by Nabil Elderkin and starring Rihanna, was released on June 3, 2009. Based around a fantasy from her paranoid mindstate, the video was released to positive reviews from critics." (you should say why it was received positively here)
  • "A remix was released by West in December 2008, featuring Mr Hudson and Big Sean." Is this notable enough for the lead?
Yes, as it was the only official remix.
Alright. Then change it to "A remix, featuring Mr Hudson and rapper Big Sean, was released in December 2008."
  • "The song was covered by the Suzan in 2010 and Kali Uchis in 2018 respectively" → "Since release, the song has been covered by artists such as the Suzan and Kali Uchis."
  • "Bryson Tiller sampled it on his track "Paranoid"." Again, is this notable enough for the lead?

 Done the rest

Background
  • "Mr Hudson went on to release his debut studio album Straight No Chaser in October 2009 under GOOD Music and a feature was included from West on the single "Supernova"." → "Mr Hudson subsequently released his debut studio album Straight No Chaser under GOOD Music in October 2009, with West contributing vocals on the single "Supernova"."
  • "American producer Plain Pat later sent West the mixtape A Kid Named Cudi, which West popped up at the release party for after hearing it and then took Cudi under his wing." → "After producer Plain Pat sent West Kid Cudi's mixtape A Kid Named Cudi, West arrived at the album's release party and took Kid Cudi under his wing."
  • "He co-wrote several songs on the album alongside "Paranoid" in Hawaii with West, including the breakout single "Heartless"." → "He subsequently co-wrote several songs on the album in Hawaii with West, including "Paranoid" and "Heartless"."
  • "...numerous other tracks, including the likes of "Erase Me" and "Gorgeous"." → "...numerous other tracks, including Kid Cudi's "Erase Me" and West's "Gorgeous"."
  • " "Paranoid" is one of the most joyful songs on it." → " "Paranoid" is one of the album's most joyful songs."

 Done for all

Composition
  • "West begins the song with him laughing while saying "Why are you so paranoid?"" I just listened to this song and it's clear to me that there's a conversation going on before the vocals start. And I don't believe for a second that West is the one who laughs. If you listen closely you can tell that after the big laugh (at 0:18), he smiles as he sang "Don't be so paranoid"; he chuckles but he doesn't flat out laugh. It also states that it's not his laugh in the source  Done, look good?
  • Don't need to say that West sings the lyrics, just use "he" (it's clearly him and the reader will know that Mr Hudson and Cudi are the ones doing the chorus)  Done
Release
  • "The song was ultimately sent to radio stations in the United States on March 23, 2009 as the album's fourth single" → "It was sent to radio stations in the United States five months later on March 23, 2009 as the album's fourth single"
  • ""Amazing" was serviced to rhythmic/urban radio stations, while "Paranoid" was only sent to US top 40 radio." → "While "Amazing" was serviced to rhythmic/urban radio stations, "Paranoid" was only sent to US top 40 radio."
  • "A remix featuring Barbadian singer Rihanna had been recorded in the fall of 2008 and was supposed to be released to US mainstream radio stations on January 27, 2009 as the fourth single from 808s & Heartbreak." say "Another remix, featuring Barbadian singer Rihanna, had been..."; this sentence is incomplete. Why wasn't it? Also, how could it be the fourth in January when the third was "Amazing" in early March?
    Unknown reason

Critical reception
  • "The song received generally positive reviews from music critics." why?
  • "best tracks and Plagenhoef viewed the song," → "best tracks, viewing the song,"
  • "demonstrating that 808s isn't a one trick pony" make sure 808s is in italics
  • "Michael Saponara ranked the song" → "Michael Saponara of Billboard ranked the song"

 Done for all

Music video
  • "Elderkin and along with "Amazing,"" → "Elderkin and, along with "Amazing","
  • "Elderkin had directed for West" remove 'for'
  • "Prior to being casted in it" → "Prior to being cast"
  • (Start new paragraph) "Island Def Jam chairman L.A. Reid presented a version of the video during an Island Def Jam Event in New York City on May 20, 2009" was this the version leaked?
  • " to see leaked and posted screenshots of the final version" → " to see leaked, posting screenshots of the final version"
  • Start new paragraph at "The video's premise"
  • "fantasy, as it centers" → "fantasy, centering"
  • "an unreleased video for "Spaceship."" → "an unreleased video for his 2004 song "Spaceship"."
  • "It was revealed by West on his blog that the video" don't have to say "on his blog" every time
  • "Elderkin revealed after West released the video for fellow 808s & Heartbreak track "Coldest Winter" in February 2010, which he directed, that there was originally more of West in the video for "Paranoid" but he took him out." → "After West released the music video for fellow 808s & Heartbreak track "Coldest Winter" in February 2010, Elderkin revealed that West originally had more screen time in the video for "Paranoid" than he had in the final version."
  • "which was ultimately won by" → "but lost to"

  • Fine
Live performances
  • "the low ones, and they joined West on stage" → "the low ones, joining West on stage"
  • "West provided" → "West gave"
  • "For his 2009 live album VH1 Storytellers, West delivered a performance of it that was not originally broadcast on VH1." can you clarify this?
    No reason known

References
  • Some refs aren't being archived by the tool
  • Put sources into ref order in sentences
  • allMusic doesn't go in italics in ref 67
  • Copyvio detector shows this ref at 44%. That's gotta be fixed
Done partially; it's still over 40% but only copies lyrics so it shouldn't be an issue. Kyle Peake (talk) 08:41, 13 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Final thoughts
  • Not yet. The toolbox shows multiple links that need to be fixed. It also doesn't say it but I think ref 56 might be dead now (I'd check that out). Remove the external MTV lyric link (Metrolyrics is fine enough) – zmbro (talk) 18:11, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Zmbro No it's only two sites. Like "All Mine" Kyle Peake (talk) 18:30, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

What you mean? – zmbro (talk) 18:33, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Zimbro: "All Mine" uses both Billboard and MetroLyrics so we can do the same here with MTV instead of Billboard. Ready to pass now??? --Kyle Peake (talk) 22:07, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Just because one song has two doesn't mean every song can have two. I most likely missed that when I was reviewing that song but oh well. Since it's an RS I'll let it slide.
     Passing – zmbro (talk) 22:59, 14 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
