Temares
[edit]I am restoring his name. There is no rule demanding that lists only contain blue links. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 05:25, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- There is, however, a rule requiring that people in notable people lists meet the same notability requirements as there exits for the creation of an article on them. WP:NLIST. The school yearbook is only a reference for the fact that someone with his name went there; it isn't even a reference for the fact that he went there (his yearbook listing certainly doesn't say he will one day be CEO of BB&B!). It certainly does not speak to the required notability. The only article of substance that I could turn up on the internet was the one you cited. There were two others that mentioned his name, but did not talk about him in detail as is required for a reference to show notability. Although you are correct that there is no requirement that only blue links be in notable persons lists, if it isn't a blue link you have to show enough referencing to create the article, and you haven't. I haven't found enough on a cursory Google search, but your mileage may vary. My suggestion would be that if his being in this list is of great importance to you, write an article about him and end the controversy.Gtwfan52 (talk) 05:52, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
Choose any half dozen of these from the Associated Press, Bloomberg, Forbes, Reuters, and the New York Times. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 06:30, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- Feel free to add any to the article, esp. if you can find one connecting him to the school. I don't write BLP's, but I would encourage you to write one on him. I was wondering why there wasn't one, as the company is certainly very notable. I will be happy to assist you in any way I can short of writing the article. Gtwfan52 (talk) 06:36, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
- Everytime I link his high school yearbook image showing that he graduated from Paramus High School you remove it. Why don't we let a third party judge it at the reliable source noticeboard, whether it is reliable or not. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 01:48, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Feel free to waste your time. Once again, all the yearbook can show is that someone with his name attended the school. There is no way to show it is him from the yearbook. Your personal knowledge is completely irrelevant. yearbooks are notoriously poorly fact checked. Even if you could glean some information which is relevant, which you can't, it wouldn't pass as a reliable source. At best it is a poor primary source that someone with that name attended school there. He has been removed again, by another editor with a whole lot more stripes than I. Replacing him at this point would most likely be considered edit warring. Write the article, then put him back, which is the same advice you were given a week ago.Gtwfan52 (talk) 02:27, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- Are you serious? All the yearbook can show is that someone with his face, and his name attended Paramus High School in 1976. In the year his biography says he was in Paramus. Are you suggesting that he had an identical twin with the same name, and that the image could be his twin and not him? As I suggested, please bring up the reliability of yearbooks at the reliable source page. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 02:42, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- Completely. How can what his face looked like in 1976 compared to now be anything but WP:OR on your part? I am done with this waste of time. Read the links before you waste any more of my time. Your edits and comments show a complete lack of WP:CLUE. Please take this to RSN. You can waste their time for a while, but they can do something about it. Gtwfan52 (talk) 02:53, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- The reliable sources noticeboard has been consulted, and there is already a consensus in favor of using the source for limited purposes. I suggest that you strike the above comment that references WP:CLUE. Unscintillating (talk) 08:33, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- WP:OR is a content policy which applies to Article pages, not editorial judgment. Reliability depends on the purpose for which the source is being used. By the process of induction; including features such as the name, city, age, longness of the face and the thickness at the bridge of the nose; the picture and name in the yearbook are that of the BBB executive listed in wsj. - As per this source, in 2012, Stephen H. Temares was 127th on the forbes list of CEO compensation. Unscintillating (talk) 08:33, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

- How is this a copyvio, much less a "clear copyvio"? Unscintillating (talk) 09:08, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
- Unscintillating, you got the history wrong. RAN used the same ref name for two different links, and the "first" one linked to the WSJ page, as can be seen when you actually go to the page I gave the diff for, and "follow" the link. He corrected this a day later, after I had pointed out the problem at ArbCom. Whether the current link (to the 1976 yearbook) is a copyvio can not be determined by me, it's gone now anyway.
