Needs attention
[edit]This article is very helpful and needs attention. It should really address the topic which it claims to be about. Larus 17:12, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Agree, the article should start with info copied from Partial differential equation#Classification --Berland 17:29, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Also agree — the article should provide a general definition, for example. — DIV (128.250.204.118 08:11, 27 June 2007 (UTC))
It'd also be nice to add another page dealing with the parabolic approximation (to reduced waves through random media with slowly varying refractive indices). I might do, after I find an acceptable reference. 81.103.21.179 (talk) 17:02, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
signs
[edit]I think some precisions should be made in the second part, concerning the sign of the laplacian (since there is differentes conventions).
Definition section contains no definition
[edit]It is a serious problem with this article that it has no definition of its subject, not even in its Definition section.
First we are given an example of the "simplest kind of parabolic PDE".
Next we are given "The basic example of a parabolic PDE".
And next we are told that "The concept of a parabolic PDE can be generalized in several ways."
But wait — before we are told how to generalize the notion, we need to know what the notion is.
Yet at no point in the article is the subject defined. 2601:200:C000:1A0:DD91:A900:A86F:27B0 (talk) 21:34, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
