This article is called Parabellum (band) . I suggest it be called Parabellum (Colombian band) or something like that, because there is another band called Parabellum, a punk band from France, that is actually somewhat more prominent than the band that this article is about. This article will be difficult

Reliable sources are hard to come by for this band. Especially since many of them are in other languages. It'd be nice if I could get some help if anyone happens to see this.

The band has a page on the Spanish Wikipedia. Here is what their article says (with some things, such as the infobox, removed):

“ Parabellum was a Colombian metal band, originally from the city of Medellin. It was formed in late 1981. Influenced by different genres of metal. Was it a new trend in the underground scene in Medellin, which until then was directed to imitate metal bands. Parabellum, along with Reincarnation, represent a break with respect to these groups, these bands were first created sound brutal, and definitely uprooted itself in the Colombian and world stage.

This sound was the product of one of the most violent contexts and excluding land, which resulted in a unique style that has not ceased to typecast the common tags in the metal scene. Although pigeonholing own ideological and musical genres are not possible to apply Parabellum, they are usually assigned the label of black metal, many say that their lyrics are satanic, however, the reality is that his lyrical content goes towards critical to Christianity in 666 and songs like Mother Death Spawn (from minilp Sacrilege.) Despite its short production, two mini EP and a commemorative CD compilation. Parabellum leave a legacy both in Colombia and worldwide underground scene. No wonder that in many "fanzines" of the late eighties and early nineties the respect we bring gang members so recognized as Kreator, Mayhem, Sarcofago, Sextrash and Impaled Nazarene by this group paisa. However out of the midst Underground and most faithful followers, Parabellum go unnoticed even by the same metal scene in Colombia for years. However, this band was rediscovered and put in the place it deserves in the late nineties by some neophytes in the metal scene in Colombia and Latin America.

The power and influence of Parabellum was well known at the time by the scene paisa and Cali. Just look at the anti-LP cover of Slaughter Requiem, where one of the members of this band proudly wore on his shirt (T-Shirt) Desecration EP image as a show of respect and legacy in this group. On the other hand, there are many printed accounts of Parabellum infleuncia ensure the Nordic Underground movement.

[Edit] Influence on Mayhem

In a commemorative compilation CD released in 2005 be read a testimony about it: (I heard about Parabellum for the first time in early 1992 in a shop in Oslo, Norway called Helvete. The owner Øystein Aarseth Euronymous was the first to talk to me of Parabellum.'s opinion about the band: "They were one of the only real bands that ever lived, and at the same time the band reincarnation were a big influence for Mayhem."

A comment about a Norwegian metalhead says the legacy of Parabellum, the world's underground metal scene: "It was Actually true! In the mid 80's in Scandinavia, Parabellum (Medellin) Was a major Influence for bands like Mayhem, Impaled Nazarene, Beherit, Immortal for His great heaviness and dark and hellish environment of Their lyrics captivated the underground scene in Sweden, Finland and Norway Obviously. Parabellum mark to great epoch in the real Black Metal. Hails and greetings, from Stavanger!
