Old references need to be checked

Earlier today, I added more structure to the page and found some sources in English to substantiate some of the page's statements, but there remains a string of references at the end of the page - many containing dead links and many in Italian. They look like the remnants of the page's translation from Italian. I'll try to chip away at these later, but would appreciate a multilingual editor's help to sort out the useful sources and to place them in the body of the article. Thanks.
