Sewall Wright did not develop the F statistic. R.A. Fischer developed the F statistic and was later knighted by the queen. (Sir Walter Bodmer, Hertford College, Catte Street, Oxford OX1 3BW, RA Fisher, statistician and geneticist extraordinary: a personal view).

- Sewell Wright did publish a series of papers in 1922 starting with Coefficients of inbreeding and relationship (American Naturalist 56, 330–338), to which he gave the letter F in the equations. Macdonald-ross (talk) 17:02, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
- R.A. Fischer developed the F statistic as in the F-test used in the Analysis of Variance framework. The F statistics from Wright metioned here are the Fixation indices Fst, Fis and Fit... Bigfootpegrande —Preceding undated comment added 12:22, 11 February 2013 (UTC)
