Oct. 1, 1916 in Chicago as Cretan Brotherhood of Chicago; the national org was created at a convention in 1929, female groups organized next year; and later on youth chapters; "enthusiastic about assisting the Greek Orthodox Church; sponsors scholarships, Cretan philanthropic institutions, and patriotism to members respective countries (it has members in US and Canada).
