WWII history is incorrect - applied to wrong airport
[edit]It appears that the entire WWII history section of this article actually applies to the Mesa Del Rey Airport in King City.
According to the Palo Alto Weekly, the Palo Alto Airport opened in 1935 (not 1940), and was closed during WWII (not surprising, given it's proximity to Moffett Field, and the short runway length at the time.) http://www.paloaltoonline.com/weekly/morgue/2001/2001_07_04.pairhistory.
According to this site, there was another "Palo Alto Airport" located in King City, which was used for training during WWII. http://www.airfieldsdatabase.com/WW2/WW2%20R26c1%20AL-CA.htm
That airport is currently known as Mesa Del Rey Airport, and the WWII history section of it's Wikipedia article is almost identical. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesa_Del_Rey_Airport

Operations turned over to City of Palo Alto
[edit]No longer operated by the County of Santa Clara. Maybe I'll update the article myself when I find time. Rairden (talk) 18:46, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
You are right. I have done the edits, let's move the page now 192.138.150.9 (talk) 21:40, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for taking care of the move. I've revised and added a couple web-links, but too much a Wikipedia novice to know what should be a "reference" and what should be an "external link" (and always worry about link rot). A prodigious amount of information about this airport has been gathered by the local working groups who researched the advisability of the City taking over management and financial responsibility from the County. For example this 1 Mb PDF document which provides a concise historical background and then describes the current environment and operational challenges. Rairden (talk) 04:06, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Palo Alto Airport of Santa Clara County → Palo Alto Airport – The city of Palo Alto has taken over operations from the county. History part has already been updated. 192.138.150.9 (talk) 21:40, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
- Support. Reliable sources do suggest the shorter name is the common name: [1], [2], [3], etc. Zarcadia (talk) 16:10, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
- Support as per Zarcadia. GeorgeGriffiths (talk) 16:23, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- Support move, as this is now the common name, and most concise name, for this airport. Anyone who has any familiarity with air transportation in the region will recognize this as the name of the airport right away. - WPGA2345 - ☛ 00:41, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Among the busiest general aviation airports...
[edit]This claim was recently removed from the article (06-Sept-2020). It may have evolved from arguably the busiest SINGLE-RUNWAY general aviation airport. Rairden (talk) 05:00, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
VOR Approach decommissioned
[edit]The VOR/DME Runway 31 from San Jose VOR into Palo Alto has been decommissioned. Someone should find the exact FAA reference and update the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Franklsf95 (talk • contribs) 20:38, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
