So -- any Wikipedians from this area? -Timvasquez 16:00, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm from the area. I'm currently attending school out of state, and get a lot of questions about the name of our town. Do you know anything about it you could add to the article? -Cat
Yeah, actually I'm pondering some things to add to it. I got hold of some Sanborn maps for Palestine going back to 1895, which I'll probably post add to the article. I might also go take a couple of pics when time permits. Anyhow I hope there are some Wikipedians around here... we all need to band together! -Timvasquez 22:27, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes that is what they are called

^Awesome I heard that there are some towns called Lebanon, are the inhabitants of these towns called Lebanese? 77.42.149.76 (talk) 15:56, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation

[edit]

Can anyone please verify the pronunciation of the name of this town? Isn't it pronounced like Palestine?

FWIW, in T-Bone Burnett song it is pronounced as Palestine. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 12:25, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pal-uh-steen is the correct pronounciation —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.240.64.130 (talk) 03:56, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requested Move/Deletion

[edit]

The section entitled "2015 campsite shooting" does not meet encyclopedic content guideline. i.e. Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files. Other historical tragedies could just be added as well, resulting in a string of news which does not define the city in a manner appropriate to an encyclopedia. 1958publius (talk) 23:21, 9 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

2015 campsite shooting

[edit]

On November 16, 2015, six people were killed at a campsite near Palestine in what local authorities said was the largest homicide in the area. A suspect, William Hudson, 33, was arrested, charged with murder, and held on a $2.5 million bond.[1] Investigating officers, responding to a 911 call from a female survivor hiding in the woods, initially found two bodies in a camping trailer but were unable to locate four other people, including a child. The four other bodies were later found in a farm pond nearby. The remote area is between Harmony and Tennessee Colony.[2] moved 1958publius (talk) 19:04, 16 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
