LOL re time/distance
This is in the lede:
- 110-mph passenger trains would travel from Eugene, Oregon, to Seattle, Washington, in 2 hours and 30 minutes, and from Seattle to Vancouver, British Columbia, in 2 hours and 50 minutes.
It's worth mentioning on the one hand that border/customs complications on the Vancouver-Seattle run slow things down, plus politics in the Lower Mainland re noise/speed (and the City of White Rock has nixed the idea, even though there's an alternate routing possibility using the centre lane of BC Hwy 499 and another that similarly would use the centre-lane of the Trans-Canada Highway from 176th westward). But it's clear that it's a lot farther than 275 miles from Seattle to Eugene, so either the trains would go faster along that stretch or that time's wrong....in any case the Canadian-side politics of this are pathetically behind the times; there's some items about this in http://thetyee.ca which maybe I'll find and come back with, other than that just search "rail"+Seattle in their search window and the items should turn up....Skookum1 (talk) 16:25, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
removed Cascadia travel bumpf
I took out the section in "Reasons" which was a promotional blurb, talking about how great it is to sit in a train etc....it's not appropriate, and adds nothing to the article.Skookum1 (talk) 18:49, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
