POV
[edit]Although not being so clear on what the neutral point of view policies forbids, there have been major edits by one editor over this month (August 2015), where details like the company's officials has been removed and progression-related events have been added. Removed information includes layoffs, the termination of a negotiation in 2014, and information of an investigation towards alleged fraud done by officials, but other cut information includes the arrival of an official on February 2013 and earlier progress of the company's project. Also removed was the fact of a missed payment, but a news article claims the payment has finally been done. In that news article in addition, no evidence of fraud has been found, according to the MTS. Once again, I'm no NPOV expert, so what's best for the article? Correcting incoherence and lack of succinctness
[edit]Several changes were made to the Pacific Imperial Railroad wikipedia because it was difficult to understand and lacked succinctness, so much of the work done was simply making the article more coherent.
Additionally upon review, many of the references were links to websites which no longer provided adequate reference information. For example, neither of the Yahoo! Finance Press Releases announcing Mr. Rohal as CEO or Mr. Stoecklein's retirement as president are still available in order to verify that information. Mr. Stoecklien is still on the company's website under the "Leadership" page as the "Director of Compliance", so he evidently hasn't retired. As there haven't been any PIR press releases this year, it is difficult to verify who is currently at the helm as CEO. Before making edits, the History was completely convoluted and nearly impossible to follow.
Also, in some cases statements including certain individual's names lacked any reference at all. For example:
"On February 4, 2014, Ernest Dahlman and all management employees except President David Rohal and Controller and Treasurer Raul Pulido were terminated because of financial difficulties. On February 6, 2014, after receiving a Written Consent of the Majority Shareholders naming a new Board of Directors, Rohal and Pulido left the company as well."- I could find nothing that verified this information.
Finally, there are several allegations in the media in early 2014 pertaining to investor fraud but it's not befitting to make corporate inner turmoil from over a year ago the focal point of an encyclopedia page about a short-line railroad, especially since the company currently appears to be making progress. Therefore, opting to tell the history of PIR without using individual's names without citations is a more ethical approach. The reference to the Greg Moran article regarding the controversy associated with the PIR management fiasco is aptly summed up in a succinct manner, so it was added as reference.
