I would like to add this definition, but I'm not convinced on the wording. It's almost getting into a definition which belongs in it's own wiki page!

  • Pu, or a Per Unit transformation. A linear transformation where a number is transformed from an absolute value to a relative unit, where 1.0 is 100% of the absolute, relative to a specific rating. (For example, an amplifier may be rated at 50 Watts. At 25 Watts, the amplifier can be said to be 0.5 pu, at 60 Watts , it is 1.2 pu).

Also, the list could be neatened a bit. The use of

  • "PU",
  • Pu -
  • PU

is not consistent. Suggestions? Thanks. Iaindb (talk) 04:55, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PU as stinky, smelly, etc.

[edit]

I haven't been able to find any reference to this usage of PU in the wiki, nor any etmyological explanation on the web. Just found the definition on acronymfinder.com saying: [not an acronym] Ugly, Noxious, Shocking, Smelly, or Odious. I definitely remember it being used commonly in cartoons and such, "PEE YOU That stinks!" So if it doesn't actually stand for anything, where did it come from? If anyone could find some more history that would be great. Quickmythril (talk) 18:33, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found someone who explained it as a variation of the interjection "phew". [1] Quickmythril (talk) 18:40, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, like Jar Jar at the podrace after an eopie farted. "Pee-yousa"! Kart2401real (talk) 06:45, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Pu (surname)

[edit]

Pu was the surname of several Muslim trading familes of foreign origin (Arab, Persian, or South Asian) along China's southeast coast. They had contacts with southeast asian countries like Champa and Brunei.
