Removed paragraph from the Trial section
[edit]I removed a paragraph from the section on the trial which is little more than primary sources promoting christian persecution complex. The general consensus is that there is no contemporary persecution of christians outside of general persecution of religious minorities, in countries where the dominant religious minority is not christian, which is not the case in any european countries. 46.97.170.32 (talk) 12:36, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
@Assem Khidhr:, while reactions to the trial may be relevant, and primary sources may be fine for attributions, you cannot ignore WP:DUE. There may be plenty of primary sources where christian groups spin their narrative about some kind of systemic attack on the largest and most powerful religion in the world, but reliable secondary soureces are needed to establish how relevant these opinions are, as well as to give proportional representation to all prominent positions on the matter, not just those coming from advocacy groups. The article devotes an entire paragraph to christians going on about how they are being silenced, and not a single sentence to the LGBTQ community's reactions to the trial, even though they were the ones initially targeted by the subjects rethoric. 46.97.170.32 (talk) 07:33, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- I just wanted to clarify that the US senator statement mentions prosecution, not persecution (which might have been a good faith error by the original author that gave out the wrong impression). Your points about undueness are valid, but they can be addressed by abridging the paragraph and maybe extending it with reactions from the other camp rather than just deleting the whole paragraph. Assem Khidhr (talk) 15:34, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- A cursory look at the sources tells me RealClearPolitics might be the most salvageable reference in the paragraph, as it's the only secondary source and has at least some reliability according to WP:RSPSOURCES. You can keep that in mind while abridging. Assem Khidhr (talk) 15:37, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
