Revision of Lead

As part of the March 2024 GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive, I made rewrites to the lead in an attempt to make it more readable for novices. In the first (prose) section, some material may seem 'redundant' for those-more-familiar with subject. I left the second part/bullet list more technical (& 'opaque' for novice); but I did purposefully add wiki links to key terms for the novice. Hope this helps.

I may/may not attempt changes to article itself; the long list is hard to unpack, and also opaque for a non-specialist. But if anyone has a thought, please post. — Yogabear2020 (talk) 15:59, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
