Documenting Overland Graduates pre-Internet
[edit]I would like to include Jeffe_Kennedy as a notable alumna. The edit was reverted since there was no citation as to her attendence. I have found the appropriate high school yearbook and personally think that it is appropriate as a source for the single, simple point of her attendence. The discussion here - Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_99#Can_a_High_School_Yearbook_be_used_as_a_"Reference"? suggests that for this specific case, it may be suitable. I invite further opinions. See also:

- The title here is a red herring. According to the editor adding it, she graduated in 1984. The internet existed in 1984, and she has lived the vast majority of her life in the internet era. I'm 10 years older and the vast majority of my life has been in the internet era. Her bio includes 0 information about her life. A yearbook might be acceptable if there were some context to indicate the person named in the yearbook is the person the biography is on. There isn't any mention of Colorado anywhere in her bio. So the only way the yearbook works is if we accept that the subject of the bio is the only person ever to have that name. That's a pretty long stretch...way to long for BLP information. - I'm sorry, in the "pre-commercialized internet." Claiming that the internet existed in 1984 is technically correct, but access was extremely limited, as I suspect you know: this is an extremely disingenuous attempt to dismiss the problem. I accept your larger point that yearbook data is by itself insufficient. However, I persist in thinking that it is helpful as supporting data. JeffBerry (talk) 08:58, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
- JeffBerry, the main point is, I can find plenty of data on myself on the internet and I'm 10 years older than you claim her to be. Every one of those discussions from the reliable source noticeboard supports my position, that being that without existing supporting contextual information such as a sourced birthdate and a sourced mention of the community the school is in, yearbooks are not an acceptable source for attendance. We do not have either. There is nothing on her birthdate or her early life. Frankly, I have my doubts she's even notable. She has a bio based on an WP:SNG, not WP:GNG, and SNGs are not absolute. They are only meant as a guide to show that we should expect GNG to be met. Please follow talk page protocols as outlined at WP:TPG. John from Idegon (talk) 15:17, 25 July 2019 (UTC)
- John from Idegon I note that the Jeffe_Kennedy page has been updated with biographical information, including both high school and university. I think that this should meet the standard required for inclusion here. Before I add her, I thought I would ask if you concur that this would be sufficient in this case.
