[edit]

This is about the rapes of children under 15 that took place in Oulu, Finland, in 2018, for which there are 16 suspects. As of 31 January, there were only sixteen sources from just three different countries (UK, Finland, Russia). Please add more. 08:52, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Several pieces from Reuters have been added. Though it is based in London, I think it is just typically considered an international news source.XavierItzm (talk) 10:17, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As of 1 February, there are 27 sources, including from Chinese coverage. Please add more as appropriate. XavierItzm (talk) 21:11, 1 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Migrants and rape?

[edit]

Quite a number of the sources fail to identify the suspects as migrants, (non-Finns). At least one specifically says "At present, the police suspect 21 people with a foreign background and 9 Finnish-born people of serious sexual offenses against minors" I can't be bothered to check all the sources, but clearly a large number of suspects/perps are not meaningfully 'migrants'.

A second problem is that rape clearly has a different definition in Finnish law - digital penetration or oral sex would not contitute rape in normal English, which has to involve a penis and vaginal or anal penetration. The acts committed by these people are pretty repellent, but they stop short of being what would be called rape in normal English.Pincrete (talk) 09:14, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

On a similar note to what you raised, I don't know what the first incidence about the imam has to do with this. The source identifies the imam as the child's religious teacher and the child as foreign, and it doesn't link him to the others. All he has in common is his race. The others exploited by social media by trying to be an older friend who can get cigarettes and alcohol, he exploited by trust from the faith community. On the second matter, for 65 million English speakers, oral sex is rape. Unknown Temptation (talk) 22:12, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
'The acts would not contitute "rape".'
